Select a product to estimate shipping.The ARO Core Aluminum Espresso Extraction Chiller rapidly cools the beginning of an espresso shot, helping preserve delicate aromas and produce a smoother, sweeter, and more balanced flavor.
Unlike conventional stainless steel extraction chillers, the ARO Core is made from solid aluminum. Aluminum transfers heat significantly faster than stainless steel, allowing the chiller to quickly absorb heat from the earliest portion of the extraction. As the aluminum warms, the remainder of the shot flows into the cup at a more comfortable drinking temperature.
The optimized shape increases contact with the espresso while promoting a smooth, controlled flow into the cup. An integrated handling ring makes the frozen chiller easy to position and remove without touching the cold aluminum surface.
The included 95 mm cup support plate rests directly on top of a wide range of espresso cups, including larger cups commonly used for cappuccinos or lattes. The freezer storage stand keeps the chiller organized and ready for use.
To use, place the chiller in the included stand and freeze it for at least 1 hour. Position the support plate over your cup, place the frozen chiller in the center, and pull your espresso directly over it. For a typical double espresso with a 1:2 brew ratio, the chiller can remain in place throughout the entire extraction. You can also experiment with different exposure times to find your preferred flavor profile.
After use, rinse the chiller under warm running water. Periodically hand wash all components with mild dish soap and warm water. Dry thoroughly before returning it to the freezer to help prevent ice buildup. Not dishwasher safe. Keep the additively manufactured stand away from extreme heat.
