- Clean Your Espresso Machine: Fill your machine’s water tank with water. Insert the rubber backflush disc or blind basket into your portafilter. Place one cleaning tablet directly inside the portafilter. Do not put the tablet in the water reservoir. Run a cleaning cycle, or backflush as recommended in the machine manual. This will dissolve the tablet and push cleaner through the brew group to remove built-up oils and residue. Finally, remove and rinse the portafilter. Then run a few regular brew cycles with just water to fully flush any remaining cleaner from the machine
