Cable Matters Unidirectional USB C to DisplayPort 1.4 Cable, 10ft
- High-Performance Video Output: This unidirectional USB-C to DisplayPort cable connects USB-C or Thunderbolt 4/5 computers to DP monitors. Supports up to 8K@60Hz or 4K@240Hz for ultra-clear visuals and high-refresh-rate gaming, content creation, and professional design work. Important: Achieving 8K@60Hz or 4K@240Hz requires a USB-C port with DisplayPort 1.4 HBR3 + DSC output (commonly found on Thunderbolt 4/USB4 laptops with 11th Gen Intel CPUs or newer).
- Wide Device Compatibility: This USBC to DisplayPort Cable connects USB-C computers such as MacBook Pro, Dell XPS, and HP EliteBook to DisplayPort 1.4 monitors, including UHD and gaming models like Dell UltraSharp U3223QE, LG 27GP950-B, ASUS ROG Swift PG32UQX, and Samsung Odyssey G7/G9. Check your computer and monitor specs before purchase to ensure both support the desired resolution (8K@60Hz or 4K@240Hz).
- Advanced Audio and Video Support: The DisplayPort to USB C cable supports Multi-Stream Transport (MST) for daisy-chaining multiple monitors and offers enhanced audio output, including 7.1 surround sound. Elevate your multimedia experience with immersive video and precision audio output.
- Reliable, Secure Connections: Featuring a low-profile USB-C connector and locking DisplayPort latches, this Thunderbolt to DisplayPort cable ensures a secure, stable connection with no accidental disconnections, providing uninterrupted performance during critical tasks or presentations. *Always remember to press the locking latch on the DP end to release when unplugging.
- Important Note: This USB-C to DisplayPort 1.4 cable is unidirectional — it works from a USB-C port with DP Alt Mode or Thunderbolt 3/4/5 (source) to a DisplayPort monitor only. It does not work in reverse (DP → USB-C) and is not compatible with HDMI, Mini DisplayPort, Thunderbolt 1/2, or USB-C monitors.

Is the cable bidirectional?
No. This cable is unidirectional. It only works from a USB-C or Thunderbolt 3/4/5 port (source) to a DisplayPort monitor (display). It does not work in reverse or with USB-C monitors.
Will this work with Apple Studio Display or a portable USB-C monitor?
No. These displays use USB-C/Thunderbolt input, not DisplayPort. This cable only works from a USB-C source to a DisplayPort monitor.
Why am I not getting 8K@60Hz, 4K@240Hz, or HDR?
Ensure your device supports DP 1.4 HBR3 + DSC, your monitor supports the target mode, and you’re using a direct connection. Update drivers and firmware if needed.
The cable flickers or shows no video on Thunderbolt 3 laptops.
Update your BIOS, Thunderbolt firmware, Thunderbolt driver, and graphics driver from the laptop manufacturer’s support site to restore proper video output.
Can I use this cable with a USB-C hub or docking station?
Yes, if the hub or dock’s USB-C/Thunderbolt port supports video output (DP Alt Mode). Power-only or data-only ports do not support video.
