The thermos-carafe seals in heat during the brewing process and afterward to lock in flavor. This eliminates the need for a warming plate, which can turn coffee bitter. For making wake-up coffee, the machine's programmable clock-timer can be set up to 24 hours in advance. There's also an automatic interrupter that halts coffee flow for 20 seconds during the brewing cycle if the thermos-carafe is removed for a quick pour. For best results, remove the carafe from the base when the brewing process is complete, sealing off the carafe and insuring hot coffee.
